Ladies And Gentlemen.......GEORGE MICHAEL LIVE!

14 Jun 08 - Virtual Stylist is pleased to announce that she will be in sheer delight to see George Michael live in concert at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. I will report back with all the fashion sightings and, OMG - the music! That's what it's all about. And remember, that's Mr. Michaels to us mere mortals............we are not worthy!

Why we love George? Because he's a non-conformist - period. The music matters, without all the hype and self-righteous nonsense that has overshadowed what THEY call music today. There is a cause greater than ourselves, and that is to uplift someone in need. Kudos to George who has never been afraid to "Fight The Power!"

PS: For bragging rights, I must post my tickets just in case the camera I attempt to sneak inside to get a glimpse of George is confiscated and I'm thrown in the pokey and miss the show (fingers crossed).

Until next time folks, Peace, Love and Soul!

An Ode To Yves Saint Laurent

1 Jun - Virtual Stylist was very saddened to hear of the passing of the King Of Couture, Mr. Inventor of the Ladies Trouser Suit himself, Yves Saint Laurent. What a better way to honor him in life and death by pulling out a pair of my favorite summer sandals fashioned by the one and only himself! Where would us girls be if it hadn't been for Mr. YSL creating stylishly conceptualized femme monsieur suits & sexy tuxedos. (SIGH) I miss him already, who can forget the trademark glasses and well tailored suits he effortlessly wore. He took the bore out of fashion and made it his own, even running the house of Dior upon the pioneer's sudden demise in 1957 at the ripe age of 21. After suffering a nervous breakdown in 1962, Yves was released from Dior and he and his partner, Pierre Berge started their own fashion house. The rest as they say is history. YSL took the road less traveled when it came to design - and we love him for it. We also love him for "recognizing the real" and being the first designer to use black models in his runway shows - kudos to you Mr. Laurent - may you rest in everlasting peace. YSL himself and model pic compiled from Wikipedia and LA Times. YSL shoes, stylist own.

Because We Love Louboutin

01May2008 The discreet one himself will make an appearance at his Madison Avenue flagship store on the 4th floor in NYC, today! Sorry no sample sales, but you may get a glimpse or oh man, can I say it.........touch the hands that makes those darling red-soled shoes favored by fashionistas and the Big O. Barneys NY creative director Simon Doonan created the sketch above that will be blown up and placed in the window of the store. Not a bad idea, but somebody may need to call the po-po, this could be a rock star event. Wishing I was a martian.........

Today's Style Fixation...Jeweled Prada Belt

What: Jeweled Prada Belt
Where: Needless Markup, ehem I mean Neiman Marcus
Why: Because VS absolutely loves this belt. It has an updated vintage look to a belt your Grandma would have worn around her favorite polyester dress. The jewels are just the right touch without the extra bling and the labeling is still very suttle.
Available at www.prada.com or Neiman Marcus stores worldwide, $480.00

Today's Style Fixation....LNA Leggings

Fixation: LNA Leggins

And Why: Ahhh, the good old 80's (sigh) VS swore to not take part in this mess of a trend and fell short of the glory when she found some denim leggings. And now this! These rocker chic leggings, well um, they rock! I said it - ok, it's over. Why would you want to be caught dead or alive (ok, Bon Jovi, get it...ok, I digress, moving on) in the basic leggings when you can be a hippie or rocker chic in these hotties. Zippered style leggings - who knew - but VS likeys!

Death of the "IT" bag?

Ahh, so the time has finally arrived. According to reports, the "it" bag business is about to suffer a backlash. The celebrity driven nonsense of average consumers having to have the exact same bag "as seen on" their favorite pop star is coming to a hault, do in part to the current economy's recession. A senior fashion analyst at Mintel, quipped that, "women have become more cynical about the handbags they carry." Well, duh.........if you have to put gas in your Mercedes, what comes first? VS will keep a watch on this madness, I'm sure the tides will turn again. Because every girl has to have a piece of arm candy, I say don't follow trends, but if you want it, get it - period!
