22July08: You guessed it! The Fall color is purple. (yawn) Ok, is it me or has fashion really come down to being a boring mess. Honestly, VS has studied with the best of them at FIT in NY and what I love most about fashion is the artistry. It really lacks the "art" these days. But hey, don't take my word for it - see for yourself. Be YOU in fashion is the best advice one can give. Nothing wrong with mixing trendy with vintage, but for peete's sake - DO NOT dress from a mannequin. Make your own style and live it up! Ok, now that I've screamed at you.........The 10 Ten Seasonal Fall Trends are as follows based on NY FAshion Week:
1. Flashy Accessories
2. Fantasy Dressing
3. Juicy Color - Bold makes a comeback from Spring (but did it ever leave?)
4. Florals, Prints & Visual Texture (yep, big tulips and Dolce & Gabanna styled leopard prints)
5. Tulle & Crinoline (don't ask)
6. Bows, Ruffles & Feathers (dressy blouses that your mother wore in the 70's)
7. Booties & Non-Boots (Um, peep toes and 80's booties)
8. Bodacious Makeup & Big Hair
9. Menswear-Inspired (THIS IS A STAPLE PEOPLE - TRUST ME)
10. Grey (so last year but we likey!)
Be sure to add plenty of blousy dresses - knee length of course to your fall wardrobe. Certainly some of your solid maxi dresses will be perfect for transitional pieces. In other words, take those long dresses and add a cropped denim jacket to it with pumps and a clutch bag and hit the town. Scott Phree's loves grey, so look for more mock neck sweater dresses and tailored fall day jackets. Stay tuned for our Fall Preview.
